June 2, 2010
The Durand-Haley Rangers, New Hampshire’s Northcountry American Legion Baseball Team, announced today that it will hold try-outs and a practice for all interested ballplayers on Saturday, 6 June 2009, from 1:00 to 3:30 pm, at Plymouth State University’s Panther Field, behind the PSU Physical Education Center on Bridge Road, in Plymouth (just off Interstate 93, Exit 25).
Eligible ballplayers include those ages 19 and under (born on or after 1 January 1990), and whose parent’s or legal guardian’s domicile, or high school is located within the Rangers’ geographic region. That region includes, generally, all of Coos County, northern Carroll County, and eastern & northern Grafton County. The Rangers are based out of Durand-Haley American Legion Post 66 in Plymouth, New Hampshire, with PSU’s Panther Field as its standing home venue. The team will also play a home game, each, in Lisbon, Conway and Berlin throughout its 29-game 2009 regular summer season.
Depending upon turn-out and players available, the Rangers will also field a Junior Team. Junior Team eligibility is limited to players ages 17 and under (born on or after 1 January 1992). Players interested in the Junior Team must attend the aforementioned try-out on 6 June. The junior team region includes Belknap, Carroll, Coos and Grafton Counties (in their entirety). The Rangers take their name from the U.S. Navy’s Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron Two “Rangers”, in memory of Plymouth baseball player Lieutenant Steve Batchelder, who gave his life during an operational mission as a member of the squadron, and all members of our Armed Forces who have made the Supreme Sacrifice in our Nation’s service.
