| 7/23/2008 White and Keene Combine for 3 HR's and 7 RBI In Rangers Victory The Rangers needed a spark, and that spark was provided by Captains Mike White (Lisbon, NH) and Matt Keene (Berlin, NH). Keene got things going in the first with a 2 RBI single off of the fence to put the Rangers up 4-0. After 2 scoreless innings White got the Rangers going with a 2 run blast over the right field chained monster putting the Rangers up 6-2. The next batter Zane Alcantara (Groveton, NH) walked. Keene was up next and hit a 2 run shot of his own over the fence in right center. The Rangers would let Concord post 21 creep back into the game. Concord would turn a 11-5 deficit into a 11-8 deficit in the 9th but Matt Koban would protect the lead by picking off runners at second and first for the last 2 outs of the game. Dan Robbins (Tamworth, NH) picked up his 3rd victory of the season going 7 strong innings, giving up 4 earned and striking out 6.
7/17/2008 Rangers lose 6-5 in late innings Adam Brammer (Littleton, NH) was crusing through the first 4 innings in his start against Laconia. Brammer had given up no runs and looked like he was going to have a long outing. But in the 5th Brammer ran into some trouble. Brammer walked the bases loaded, and walked in a run. Matt Keene (Berlin, NH) came in relief of Brammer and gave up a double down the line and a sacriice fly, which tied the game at 4. It would be a back and forth battle over the last 3 innings. In the home half of the 8th Mike White (Lisbon, NH) who came in relief of Keene in the 6th, walked the first two batters of the inning. After a pass ball, a sacrifice fly, and a base hit, the Rangers found themselves down 6-4. In the 9th the Rangers got one back off an RBI single from Alexander Scott (Plymouth, NH), but that is all the Rangers had in the tank as tey would fall to Laconia 6-5.
7/15/2008 Rangers Drop Tough Contest To Alton Post 72 The Rangers went to Alton Post 72 in hopes of continuing thier weekend of winning but ran into some bad luck. Dan Robbins (Tamworth, NH) got the start for the Rangers and ran into some trouble early, giving up 3 unearned runs in the first. The Rangers would get one back in the second to make the score 3-1 when Matt Keene (Berlin, NH) singled in Mike White (lisbon, NH) after he doubled to left center. But that was about as close as the Rangers would get. Robbins would settle down and go 6+ innings. Seth Shackford (Conway, NH) came in in the 7th and gave up the remaining runs to let the game come to a close in the 7th. The Rangers lost by a score of 12-2. White went 3-3, just a single short of the cycle. Matt Koban also added 2 hits on the day.
7/14/2008 Rangers come up short at Booma Coming off 2 wins in a row, the Rangers strolled into Booma Post 6 of Portsmouth with a jump in their step. The Rangers went up 5-1 early in the game but that would be as good as it gets for the Rangers as they would fall by a score of 17-7. A 7 run 6th inning would be the inning that changed the game. A Mike White (LIsbon, NH) hom run gave the Rangers a little more spark but it wasnt enough as the Rangers could not muster anymore offense.
7/13/2008 Rangers Beat Exeter in Slugfest Coming off a huge win against Dover Post 8, the Rangers won their second consecutive game by a score of 16-15. The Rangers had numerous stellar performances at the plate. Mike White (Lisbon, NH) , Matt Keene (Berlin, NH) , and Jason McGregor (Bartlett, NH) all had 3 hit days. Mcgregor had 5 RBI and Keene added 3. Also, Zane Alcantara (Groveton, NH) went 4-6 on the day. On the mound Marcus Levin (Conway, NH) went the first 7 innings getting no decision. Getting the win for the Rangers was Matt Koban who piched the 8th. Getting the save for the Rangers was Travis L'heureux (Berlin, NH).
7/12/2008 Brammer goes 6 1/3, Stops Skid Adam Brammer (Littleton, NH) went 7 1/4 innings giving up 6 unearned runs on 3 hits and gave the Rangers a chance to start the seacoast swing on a good note. The Rangers did that and responded with a comeback 9-6 victory. A Mike White (Lisbon, NH) double and home run gave Brammer 4 runs of run support which locked the game up at 4 apiece. In the 7th Brammer ran into some trouble. After an error scored the go ahead run, a double to the fence for Post 8 put them up 6-4 going into the 8th inning. In the 8th The Rangers got the bases loaded with no outs and got one run in via filders choice ffrom Jesse Arsenault (Berlin, NH) and the game was tied on an errored throw on Matt Koban's ground ball. After a strong defensive effort in the 8th, the Rangers took care of business in the 9th Jason Mcgregor (Bartlett, NH) had a 2 RBI single to break the tie, and Wes Cushing (Plymouth, NH) followed with an RBI single of his own. The Rangers would shut the door in the 9th for a 9-6 victory. The Rangers play Exeter on Saturday, the 12th.
7/10/2008 Rangers On 4 Game Losing Skid The Rangers entered the weekend badly needing to collect some victories but were unable to behind some solid pitching performances. The Rangers lost to Rochester 8-4 on Saturday, Portsmouth 4-1 on Sunday, Exeter 8-5 in 10 innings on Monday, and Post 79 12-7 on Wednesday. The Rangers got solid pitching performances from Adam Brammer (Littleton, NH), Marcus Levin (Conway, NH), Mike White (Lisbon, NH) and Dan Robbins (Tamworth, NH). They all gave solid starts and gave the Rangers a chance to win, timely hitting and solid defense were non-exsistant in this 4 game skid. The Rangers will now go on their yearly "Seacoast Swing" roadtrip to try to get back on track.
7/5/2008 Rangers' Bats Come Alive in 4th of July Showdown After only getting 2 runs in the first two District A games the Rangers' bats came alive. The Rangers' put up 3 runs in the 1st, 5 in the 7th and 1 in the eighth. The Rangers went down 3-0 in the first but responded off the Laconia Post 1 Ace Derrick Sylvester by getting a 2 RBI single by Mike White(Lisbon, NH) . Following a base hit White, now at thrid, scored while Marcus Levin (Conway, NH) was in a rundown at first. That run tied the game. All the scoring owuld be halted by Sylvester and the Rangers starter Dan Robbins (Tamworth, NH). The Rangers would have multiple chances but could not get that go ahead run across the plate, that was until the 7th. With two runners on base, White drove a deep fly ball to the gap to give the Rangers the lead. Thats all they Would need as Ryan Mcintosh (Lincoln, NH) came in to close out the 8th and 9th for the Rangers. Robbins went 7 innngs, fanning 4, giving up 3 runs while earning the win. Robbins improves to 2-0 on the season.
7/4/2008 Rangers Drop 2nd Consecutive at Gill Stadium The Rangers made the long trek back down to Gill Stadium in Manchester to take on the other Manchester club, Post 79. The Post 79 left handed starting pitcher held the Ranger bats at bay, pitching a complete game four hitter. Travis L'heureux (Berlin, NH) and Mike White (Lisbon, NH) collected all of the hits for the Rangers each of them had 2 hits a piece. On the mound White went 5 innings giving up 3 runs and earned the loss on the mound. The Rangers fell by a final of 9-0.
7/3/2008 Rangers Drop District A Opener After a long anticipated preseason where the Rangers posted a 3-1 record, the Rangers set out on the first game of their 18 game District A schedule. The Rangers had trouble in the early going giving up 4 runs in the 3rd inning. Sweeny Post 2 commanded the lead for the first 6 innings, the Sweeny pitcher only gave up one hit to Travis L'heureux (Berlin, NH) through 6. But in the 7th, the Rangers finally woke up the bats. Ryan McIntosh (Lincoln, NH) got it started with a base hit, following a Xander Scott strike out, Marcus Levin (Conway, NH) got on base via a swinging bunt. With runners on 1st and 2nd pinch hitter Mike Bownes (Plymouth, NH) got his first knock of the season with a bloop single over the short stops head and just out of reach of both the left and centerfielders. With 1 out and the bases jammed full of Rangers, Jesse Arsenault (Berlin, NH) went down by way of the K. With 2 out and bases still loaded, Captain Matt Keene (Berlin, NH) ripped a single down the line that scored both McIntosh and Levin. With runners at the corners and 2 out, L'heureux slapped the 3-2 offering between first and second. The first baseman made a dive to keep the ball in the infield, got up and tossed the ball to the pitcher just as L'heureux got to the base. The call was close but the umpire made the call, L'heureux was out and the threat was over. The Rangers would get Matt Koban to third in the 8th following his double to left but could not push him across. In the 9th the Rangers had runners on the corners with 1 out. Arsenault tried to steal second but was caught red handed. Keene followed that play with a deep fly ball to centerfield to end the game. Levin took the loss for the Rangers on the mound, going 6 innings, giving up 3 earned runs. In relief McIntosh went 2 strong innings giving up just one unearned run. The final score Sweeny 5, Rangers 2.
7/1/2008 Rangers Beat OEC Kings When the Rangers stepped foot on the Lions Club Community Field in Lisbon, they were on a "Show of Force" mission to beat the OEC Kings of Lyndonville, VT. The Rangers showed their offensive power getting up early 9-2 by the third frame thanks to home runs via Alexander Scott (Plymouth, NH) and Matt Koban. The Rangers would allow the Kings to mount a small comeback in the late frames but held the Kings off to a 11-7 victory. Getting the win on the mound was Dan Robbins (Tamworth, NH) who pitched 7 strong innings giving up 3 runs. The Rangers next game is thier District A opener vs Sweeny Post 2.
6/27/2008 Rangers Start Out Season 2-1 The Post 66 Durand Haley Rangers kicked off the 2008 season with some offensive power as they beat Post 14 from Rhode Island by a score of 14-0. The Rangers were led offensive by Eric Jensen (Gorham, NH) who went 4-5. Mike White (Lisbon, NH), Marcus Levin (Conway, NH), Jason McGregor (Bartlett, NH), and Ryan McIntosh (Lincoln, NH) all contributed multiple hits. On the mound Matt Koban and Dan Robbins (Tamworth, NH) came in relief of Levin to combine for the shut out.
The Rangers made the trip to Lebanon, NH to take on District B Post 22. The Rangers had a hard time getting the bats going early as the Rangers went down early 9-2. The Rangers would get a couple back in the 7th inning bringing the final score to 11-6. Offensive highlights were Levin's 2 RBI triple to right center and Trevor Greene's (Sandwich, NH) RBI single. On the mound White had trouble finding the zone pitching 2+ innings giving up no hits, walking 5 and 2 unearned runs. In relief of White was McGregor and McIntosh.
On Wednesday, June 25th the Rangers played for the first time on home turf. It did not give the Rangers much motivation as they found themselves down 11-2 in the 3rd inning. Starting Pitcher Adam Brammer (Littleton, NH) had trouble finding the strike zone. After a slew of walks and a couple errors the Rangers were in an 11-2 hole. The Rangers started a rally in bottom of the 3rd inning when Matt Keene (Berlin, NH) hit a 2-Run home run over the right center field fence to close the gap to 11-4. Zane Alcantara (Groveton, NH), Travis L'hueruex (Berlin, NH) and Jesse Arsenault (Berlin, NH) along with White, and McIntosh all had key hits in the 5th,6th and 7th closing the deficit to 12-9. With darkness approaching it looked as if the 8th was going to be the rangers last shot at a comeback. With 2 outs Wes Cushing hit a RBI triple down the right field line to cut the lead down to 12-11. L'huerux followed with a great at bat which lead to a walk. With runners on 1st and 3rd Keene hit a 1-2 pitch to left center field for a 2 RBI double to give the Rangers the 13-12 win. Matt Sciola (Conway, NH) pitched 6 solid innings of relief to shut down Post 22. Sciola gave up no earned runs over 6 innings and scattered 5 strikes out while earning the win.
