Rangers Power Past NH Storm

The Rangers arrived ready to play the New Hampshire Storm on the 17th and that’s just what they did. Starting on the hill for the Rangers was Andrew Kelly(Lincoln, NH). After dominating at Lin-Wood High School all season, Kelly continued his success in his first start as a Ranger. Kelly struck out 12 and pitched efficiently, allowing only two Storm hits. The Storm’s single run of the game came unearned after two Ranger errors in the fourth. In the first, Kevin Reisert got things started with a single, and Luke Merrill (Pittsburg, NH) brought him home with a stand up double. In similar fashion, to begin the third, Wes Cushing (Plymouth, NH) singled to right followed by an Alexander Scott (Plymouth, NH) double to score him. Michael Larson tripled in the fourth, bringing home Seth Shackford (Madison, NH). After picking up two runs via pass balls in the seventh, Reisert singled in the eighth to score the Rangers last run of the night. The Rangers turned two double plays in the game, and Scott threw two runners out from behind the plate. Merrill closed the game for the Rangers, striking out one and giving up no hits. The Rangers demonstrated their ability of solid defense and aggressive offense in their 7-1 victory over the NH Storm. The Rangers look forward to their first district game on Saturday against Laconia at 12:00 noon at Panther field.

Pogorzelski Announced as Head Coach
John Pogorzelski who has been an assistant under the tutelage of head coach John Whitney for the past two seasons has been announced as the head coach. Pogorzelski will replace Whitney who will now be the bench coach. Pogorzelski who is a former player and now assitant coach at Plymouth State is hoping that this years team can make it to the playoffs, "Our number one goal is to make the playoffs" said Pogorzelski. He continued " I think the new (two division) format really gives us a better chance to not only play different teams that we haven't had a chance to in the past, but gives us more of a chance to make the playoffs."The Rangers were 21-28 in the two seasons under Whitney.
